Fuel Stations Syndicate: Demand Down 5%… Jordan’s Energy Security Is “Fine”

Al-Taj News – Head of the Fuel Stations Owners Syndicate, Engineer Nahar Al-Saeedat, said that the rise in global oil prices, alongside the repercussions of the geopolitical crisis in the region, has affected the costs of importing petroleum products into Jordan, particularly with the increase in insurance, transportation, and shipping costs.

Al-Saeedat explained, during the “Masarat” program on Jordan Television, that the challenge during the past period was not only related to the rise in petroleum product prices, but also to ensuring the supply needs of the local market amid regional circumstances, noting that vessel waiting costs had risen significantly, along with transportation and insurance costs.

He stressed that Jordan’s energy system dealt efficiently with the repercussions of the crisis by diversifying oil import sources, making use of available infrastructure and stocks, in addition to the readiness of the Jordan Petroleum Refinery, marketing companies, and fuel stations.

Al-Saeedat said that Jordan’s energy security is “fine,” praising the management of the relevant authorities during the past period and noting that the priority was to ensure the continued supply of petroleum products to the market and the continued operation of the electricity system and the national economy.
